The story continues

Last week, we continued to work on the toilet block. Things went right, but also definitely things went wrong. We learned a lot again shall we say.

For instance, I learned that when you drill into tiles that you always check that your drill is not on tap. Of course, I know that but we had been doing odd jobs for a long day when I thought I would hang a mirror. Unfortunately, the drill was on tap and I bounced over the glazed tile.

The tile was so damaged that I had no choice but to replace it. I went to work with my grout scraper but unfortunately I slipped on the tile next to it, leaving a big scratch, so that became two tiles. And to make matters worse, when removing the old glue I also hit the edge of the tile underneath with the hammer. And so three tiles had to be replaced.

We also learned that when you grind off bolts with your grinder that you have to protect the tiles. We thought we could just brush away those black spots when we were done. Unfortunately, that didn't work out, the iron particles burn into the glaze and that is beyond repair. We don't have time to replace all these tiles too so if you spot some stains in the toilet block, it's in the tile. Oh well, you learn from it again, now we have created a nice cardboard grinding cabinet.

But after all the setbacks, today was finally the day, the first toilet block is finished! Well finished, the finishing touches still need to be added, but we can move on to the next job. Next week we will start working hard to install the new kitchen. Of course we will keep you posted on all the bloopers.

Last week, we also picked up the TV for the upcoming sports summer. We have quite a big bus but still it didn't fit. So it's also good to see at the back of the terrace.
