Time already flew since we got here, but now that the campsite is open it seems to go even faster. I thought the last blog was only 1 week ago until I found out that it was already blog day last Thursday.
For the past few months, we have been busy getting the "commission de sécurité" to visit us. This is because our insurance company required us to do so in order to get full coverage. I must honestly say I was quite reluctant to do so, especially as we had no idea what it was going to entail.
Last week they finally came, a local fire chief, someone from the prefecture, the mayor and a disabled accessibility specialist. The conversation started with the fact that they found it very strange that our insurer requested this since our campsite is not at all subject to mandatory visits by the commission and so they do not come back for inspection.
They did walk the campsite and the fire brigade was actually quite satisfied. I had drawn up an evacuation plan at the last minute, but he didn't even look at it. We had already noticed ourselves that there were very few fire extinguishers on the campsite so we have already made an appointment with a company that facilitates this. And soon all electrics on the campsite will be checked by a company called Veritas. We are waiting for the commission's report to see if we need to make any changes.
However, there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of accessibility for the disabled. That man will come back again to talk to us about it in detail and the prefecture is going to see if we can then get a grant for that, more on that later.
Furthermore, last week the toilet block was clogged, with poo coming up in places where it didn't belong. Fortunately, a company was able to come quickly to hose it through but he had 1 problem. There is a manhole on our sewer map but it has been closed... So he had to hose it through from the wrong side, resulting in a very dirty toilet building. But that was solved with a good cleaning.
