Just an update from the finally sunny south of France. Here too, we have had more rain than we are used to at this time of year. Still, we can't complain at all as we were able to receive people all this time. Campsites further north had to close their doors because of the wet spots.
One little bird had the smart idea. It thought, with all this rain, I'll make a nice dry nest in the toilet building. Fortunately, she had chosen the toilet building, which wasn't finished yet, so we left the nest alone until the birds had fledged.
And it doesn't stop there with the young animal news. In Ben and Jeanette's garden in the house next door is a litter of kittens. We have been given an address to take them to but yes, you have to get them first. We have started a charm offensive by feeding them but so far they remain very shy. We can't get any closer than this picture.
Next summer the Olympics are in Paris, very curious to see what that will do to holiday traffic... I think it is very wise to stay far away from Paris during that period. But before the Olympics can start they need the Olympic fire. That fire came through the Gers last week and that's where Randy and Hein went to have a look.
Hein also had his birthday last week and we celebrated it with family and camping guests with a nice piece of cake. And in the evening, as a surprise, a friend of Hein's spontaneously arrived at the campsite. A birthday for the books!
Now that the sun is showing itself more often and the temperatures, even in the evening, are a lot more pleasant, eager use is being made of the petanque court. Great fun to see how fanatical everyone is!
Yes, and what we really like most about camping is that it is so easy to make contact with each other. So it often happens that we have a drink together on the terrace. Well, let the sun stay and we toast our lovely guests and hope that many more will follow!
